What is Password.link?
Password.link is a secure platform for sharing sensitive information, such as passwords and files, through one-time links.
What is a one-time link?
A one-time link is a unique web address that can only be used once. After it's been accessed or clicked on, the link becomes invalid, preventing further access. This security measure helps protect sensitive information by limiting its exposure and reducing the risk of unauthorized access or sharing.
How does Password.link ensure the security of shared information?
The platform uses client-side encryption with AES-256-GCM, ensuring data is encrypted before it leaves your browser. We only see the encrypted version of the data, and it gets permanently deleted after the link has been opened.
What does client-side encryption mean?
Client-side encryption means that the process of encoding (encrypting) and decoding (decrypting) data occurs on the user's device, such as their computer or smartphone, rather than on a remote server. This ensures that sensitive information is secured before it's sent over the internet, offering an extra layer of protection against unauthorized access or interception by third parties.
How does client-side encryption make Password.link more secure?
All encryption and decryption operations take place within your browser, with one part of the encryption key embedded within the link. This guarantees that your data is fully encrypted before it reaches our service, making it impossible for anyone (even us) to decrypt it without the original link.
